About Answerpath
A tool for teachers of any subject who want practice that marks itself: type one list of questions and answers, and print a maze, a riddle decoder and an I have, who has card loop from it, each with an answer key.
Why we made it
Self-checking activities are a classroom staple because a student finds out straight away when an answer is wrong. A maze that dead-ends, a riddle that spells nonsense or a card loop that stalls tells the student to look again, and the teacher sees who is stuck without marking a pile of sheets. The trouble is the making. Each format is usually a separate template filled in by hand, and the careful part, making sure no wrong answer accidentally leads somewhere, is easy to get wrong late at night.
We built Answerpath so that one list does all three, and so the careful part is done by fixed rules that are checked every time. The maze is searched route by route to prove that only correct answers lead from Start to Finish. The decoder is read back as a student would read it, to prove the correct answers spell the message. The card loop is followed card by card to prove it closes into one loop.
What it is
- One question list, typed or pasted from a spreadsheet, with a status on every row.
- Three formats from that list, with the settings that matter: box shape and size for the maze, how repeated letters work for the decoder, 6 or 8 cards a sheet for the loop.
- Wrong answers you type, plus wrong answers made for number answers by rules stated on how it works.
- Student pages and answer keys as PDFs on A4 or US Letter, pictures, or printing straight from the page.
- Six example sets to start from.
What it is not
- Not a question bank. Apart from the examples, every question comes from you.
- Not a marker. It checks that each activity works as a puzzle; it cannot know whether an answer you typed is right, so check the keys.
- Not guesswork. The same questions, settings and code always give the same activity, and the code is printed on every sheet.
- Not an account. Nothing is uploaded; your questions stay in your browser.
